Florida Medicare · 2027 plan non-renewal help

Did you receive a letter that your Medicare plan is ending in 2027?

Start with your letter and your coverage end date. We'll go over your letter with you, check your doctors and prescriptions, and compare the 2027 plans we offer in your county. Free, by phone or video, in English or Spanish.

Dates to know

October 15 to December 7: Annual Enrollment PeriodDecember 8 to February 28: extra time if your plan is not renewedJanuary 1, 2027: new coverage starts if you choose by December 7

Review your replacement plan and effective date before your current coverage ends.

Why this matters in Florida

Many Floridians will need a new plan for 2027

Every year some Medicare Advantage plans end or leave certain counties. CMS reports 560 Medicare Advantage plans available statewide for 2027, compared with 611 in 2026. That net decrease does not establish how many beneficiaries must change coverage. Your exact plan and official notice determine whether you face a non-renewal, a plan reassignment, or changes to a continuing plan.

Some of those members will be moved by their insurance company into a similar plan. Others will need to choose new coverage themselves. The letter from your plan tells you which applies to you, so keep it handy.

What your plan letter means

“Plan not renewing” letter

Your plan won't be offered in your area in 2027, so you need to choose new coverage. If you do nothing, you'll be moved to Original Medicare on January 1, and you won't have drug coverage unless you pick a Part D plan.

Annual Notice of Change

Your plan continues, but premiums, copays, doctors or the drug list may change. Some members are moved into a different plan by their insurance company. Review it before December 7.

Giveback plans

If your plan lowered your Part B premium and that plan is ending, the lower premium ends with it. We'll check which 2027 plans in your county offer a Part B reduction, and whether one fits your doctors and prescriptions.

PPO members

If you liked seeing doctors outside a network, we'll compare the 2027 PPO plans we offer with Original Medicare plus a Medicare Supplement, so you can see the trade-offs side by side.

Your doctors and prescriptions

Networks and drug lists change every year. Before you choose, we check your actual doctors, hospitals, pharmacy and prescriptions against each plan.

Medicare and Medicaid

If you have both and your special needs plan is ending, you may have more chances during the year to change plans. We'll explain what applies to you.

2027 giveback plans

2027 Medicare giveback plans in Florida

A giveback plan is a Medicare Advantage plan that lowers the Part B premium you pay each month. If your giveback plan is ending, you still have choices: availability and premium reductions depend on the exact plan, county and eligibility.

The amount of the reduction, the network and the yearly out-of-pocket limit are different for each plan. Compare the exact medical out-of-pocket limit and other costs in the plan’s 2027 Summary of Benefits. A bigger giveback is not always the better deal if your doctors aren’t in the network or your costs go up elsewhere.

You still need to keep paying for Part B. The reduction comes off your Part B premium, usually taken from your Social Security check. The reduction can take a few months to show up. Any amount owed is usually caught up later.Giveback plans are available in some counties and not others, so we check what is offered at your address. We compare the giveback plans we offer against your doctors, hospitals and prescriptions, so the savings are real for you.
Your options

What you can do if your plan is ending

You don’t have to accept whatever you’re moved into, and you don’t have to decide alone. These are the main choices:

Choose another Medicare Advantage plan. During the Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 to December 7. If your plan is not renewing, you also have a Special Enrollment Period from December 8 to the last day of February.Go back to Original Medicare and add a Part D drug plan. Review Part D separately and account for any other creditable drug coverage you have.Add a Medicare Supplement (Medigap). If your plan leaves your area and you return to Original Medicare, you may have guaranteed-issue rights to certain Supplement policies. Confirm the qualifying event, eligible policy types and deadline before choosing coverage. The window opens as early as 60 days before your plan ends and closes 63 days after.Have a letter? We’ll review it with you. No letter? We can still check your options and compare the plans we offer in your county.

Questions about plans ending in 2027

My Medicare Advantage plan is ending. What happens if I do nothing?

If your plan is not renewed and you don’t choose a new plan, you’ll be moved to Original Medicare on January 1. You won’t have Part D drug coverage unless you join a drug plan, and going 63 days or more without creditable drug coverage can lead to a lifelong late penalty.

How long do I have to pick a new plan?

You can change plans during the Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 to December 7, and coverage starts January 1. If your plan is not renewing, you also have a Special Enrollment Period from December 8 to the last day of February.

My giveback plan is ending. Can I keep my Part B premium reduction?

The reduction belongs to the plan, so it ends when the plan ends. Some 2027 plans in your county may also offer a Part B premium reduction. We’ll check which ones do and whether they fit your doctors and prescriptions.

Can I get a Medicare Supplement if my plan is leaving?

You may have guaranteed-issue rights when your Medicare Advantage plan leaves your area and you return to Original Medicare. Confirm the circumstances and eligible policy types before applying. You can apply as early as 60 days before your coverage ends and no later than 63 days after.

My insurance company says it’s moving me to a different plan. Should I accept it?

You can, but compare first. The new plan may have a different network, drug list or costs. Review it against your doctors and prescriptions before December 7.

Do you help in Spanish?

Yes. Rafael Mendoza speaks English and Spanish. Sí, hablamos español.

Are there Medicare giveback plans in Florida for 2027?

Check the 2027 plans available at your address. The Part B reduction, network and out-of-pocket limit differ by plan, so we compare them against your doctors and prescriptions before you choose.

I live in Fort Myers, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Lakeland or Daytona. Can you help me?

Yes. We help people anywhere in Florida by phone or video, including Lee, Hillsborough, Pinellas, Polk and Volusia Counties, with coverage options reviewed for your exact county and ZIP code. We’ll compare the 2027 plans we offer in your county.
