Retirement communities

If you live in a 55+ community near Ocala

Marion County has a lot of retirees in communities along State Road 200, in Summerfield and around Ocala. Many of them received the same letter at the same time, and talk at the clubhouse fills up fast. Of the 11,003 affected residents, most are in PPO plans and about 6,300 had a Part B premium reduction.

A plan your neighbor loves may not fit you. Two people on the same street can take different medicines and see different specialists, so their best plan is often different.

What’s new in Marion County

HCA Florida Healthcare plans to open HCA Florida Canopy Oak Emergency, a freestanding emergency room at 8231 SW State Road 200 near On Top of the World, in spring 2027. It will be HCA’s sixth freestanding ER in Marion and Sumter counties. AdventHealth Ocala and HCA Florida Ocala Hospital remain the county’s main hospitals.

If a new ER will be closer to your home, check whether the 2027 plan you’re considering covers that hospital system in network. Emergencies are covered anywhere, but follow-up care and admissions depend on the network.
