Port Charlotte’s hospital has a new name. Check your plan’s network for it.
ShorePoint Health Port Charlotte became AdventHealth Port Charlotte on March 1, 2025, and the Punta Gorda hospital had already closed. AdventHealth has announced an emergency department off Jones Loop Road near US-41 in Punta Gorda. When a hospital changes owners, its contracts with Medicare Advantage plans can change too.
- 1Look up the hospital by its new name. Search plan directories for AdventHealth Port Charlotte, not ShorePoint.
- 2Check your specialists. Doctors who joined the new owner’s medical group may have new contracts.
- 3Think about where you’d go in an emergency. Emergencies are covered anywhere, but follow-up care and admissions follow your network.
